Our Milestone
A Rich History of Growth
Our story began in 1965, then known as the United Malay State Sugar Industries (UMSSI), with a single refinery in Batu Tiga, Shah Alam. We were then acquired by Malayan United Industries Berhad (MUI) in 1968, kickstarting a legacy of constant and meaningful growth through the decades.
In 1983, we were incorporated as Central Sugars Refinery Sdn. Bhd. (CSR), becoming the beloved household choice for sugar products you know today.
1992
Awarded SIRIM product certification for our white refined sugars for general and Industrial use in 1992.
1994
Became the first company in the sugar industry to be awarded the prestigious MS ISO 9002:1987 Quality Management System Certification in 1994
2000
Awarded HALAL Certification as confirmation of our compliance with stringent food processes in 2000 Became the first company in the sugar industry to be awarded the coveted MS ISO 14001 Certification for Environment Management System (SIRIM QAS).
2001
Certified Kosher by the Court of The Chief Rabbi (London) in 2001.
2002
HACCP-certified by SGS International as an assurance to our customers of product safety in 2002.
2004
Committed to our policy of continuous improvement we upgraded our Quality Management System Certification (QMS) to MS ISO 9001:2000 from SIRIM here QAS in 2004
2006
Awarded OHSAS Certification by SIRIM QAS for complying with Occupational, Health and Safety Management Systems 2006.
2008
Continue with our strong commitment to our Policy of Product / Food Safety we further gain HACCP MS 1480:1999 certification under the Ministry of Health Malaysia. (MoH) in 2008.
2011
Awarded the ISO 22000 Food Safety Management System Certification by SGS International in 2011.
2014
Awarded the FSSC 22000 Food Safety Management System Certification by SGS International in 2014. Accredited with MS ISO/IIEC 17025 Certification by Department of Standards Malaysia.
2018
1st in Asia to achieve VIVE claim level global standards as a sustainability sugar refinery.
2020
To become the leading producer of refined sugars in Malaysia by 2020.
