We were initially known as United Malay State Sugar Industries (UMSSI) when we started our operations in 1965.

In 1968, UMSSI was acquired by Malayan United Industries Berhad (MUI) and renamed Central Sugars Berhad.

There are many reasons why the Central Sugar Refinery (CSR) brand is the preferred choice for Malaysians for more than five decades. And those who have chosen our brand would know why. CSR stands for quality products, innovativeness and the dedication to meet consumer and customer requirements, wants and needs.

In case you don’t know, sugar is not just a sweetener. It also acts as a preservative, texture modifier, flavouring and colouring agent, among others. It gives you more than just a taste, but a sense of flavour.
